Join Louisville Dog Run Association members in our Party, Spot! room as they discuss plans for the city's first "Dog Park." Learn how you can paw-ticipate in the planning and development of this safe, off-leash area for your pooch!

The Fourth Annual FurBall is February 13th at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in downtown Louisville. Guests at this year's event will enjoy a gourmet dinner, dancing and a silent auction as well as an awards ceremony to recognize animal heroes, professionals and volunteers in our community.

Tickets cost $75 per person and all proceeds benefit Pet Groups United, a non-profit coalition of Louisville-area animal-welfare and rescue agencies.

For ticket information, please call (502) 899-PETS.

• If you must leave pets outside, please provide them with warm, dry shelter; de-ice and refill water bowls often.

• Outside pets should be fed more food during cold weather because they burn more calories trying to stay warm.

• Puppies and kittens are extremely sensitive to cold; adult pets can develop frostbite and hypothermia.

• Cats attempt to stay warm under car hoods. Always check before starting your car.

• Wash dogs feet with warm water to remove salt used for de-icing on roads and sidewalks. This will prevent sore and cracked paw pads.

• Do not spill automobile antifreeze, as it is highly toxic to pets.
