Greetings to all our friends and supporters. I wanted to thank you for the outstanding
postal food drive support. We continue to have many needed food items as a direct
result of that wonderful drive. This is living proof of how ingenuity and a community
effort can solve a problem. We are very busy getting our families ready for the
2006 hurricane season. Between 600-1,000 food boxes will be prepared in advance
of any storm for swift distribution to our poorest families, our elderly, and
our disabled customers. We are recruiting "disaster relief" volunteers. These
people will be our first responders and will arrive at CFP at the first "all clear"
signal. They will answer our phone and will give information to those who are
in need of help. Volunteers can also help us prepare emergency food bags for distribution
to shut in families, prepare hot meals, and work to clean up our grounds and secure
our facility. If you would like to help with this and go through disaster response
training, please call our office at 954-792-2EAT (2328).
When things seem
extremely dark, and with no way out, people are finding that The CFP is a place
where people care and genuinely want to help. Sometimes need does far exceed our
existing resources. Please consider being on our team and playing an active role
in helping us move forward as we take on the challenges we are presented. Those
who plant kindness harvest love.
BANK
ATLANTIC Serving & Service The
Cooperative Feeding Program was pleased to host our good corporate friends BANK
ATLANTIC for our unique SERVING & SERVICE program which offers distinctive corporate
leadership by generating staff involvement, participation and support. Serving
and Service provides public recognition and hands-on involvement, by corporate
Broward, to diminish levels of family suffering right where we live and do business.
CFP congratulates BANK ATLANTIC and their 12 employee volunteers
who participated in the preparation and serving of over 300 meals to Broward's
hungry citizens. Usually this meal is the only meal that day for the people we
serve. The great majority of those served are families who have fallen on extremely
difficult times. Often having to choose between meals or medicine, an increasing
number of people turn to the Cooperative Feeding Program for emergency help.
If you are socially conscious and want to assist in addressing two growing community
concerns hunger and homelessness, Call us @ 954-792-2328 or email
scott@feedingbroward.org
for more information on our Serving & Service program.

"BRACING
FOR THE STORM" HURRICANE SEASON PREPARATIONS
The Cooperative
Feeding Program is bracing for what has been projected to be a very active 2006
hurricane season. More that $25,000 in special hurricane food has been purchased
and will be used to prepare emergency hurricane food kits for more than 500 low
income Broward families. The CFP is bracing for the storm by being prepared to
meet any surge in client need with grant support from The Sun-Sentinel Children's
Fund Hurricane Relief Campaign a fund of The McCormick Tribune Foundation, United
Way of Broward's Carnival Cruise grant, Neighbors 4 Neighbors Fund (CBS/UPN33
viewers), ELCA (Evangelical Lutheran Church Association), The Community Foundation
of Sarasota, Kiwanis Club of Bradenton Foundation, First Presbyterian Church,
Broward Community Foundation, and the MCF Disaster Relief Fund of Manatee Community
Foundation.
 Above:
Marta and her family share their gratitude and hurricane survival story at the
CFP June Board of Director's Meeting. Through a grant from the Sun-Sentinel Children's
Fund Hurricane Relief Campaign a fund of The McCormick Tribune Foundation, CFP
was able to assist Marta and her family with purchasing a condo after Hurricane
Wilma damaged her mobile home and left her homeless. | "This
is an effort to be prepared in light of the havoc that hurricanes can produce,"
explained Marti Forman, the agency's CEO. "After Wilma there were families and
shut-ins who literally had no food for several days. This is our effort to be
better prepared for what Mother Nature throws at us."
The CFP assisted
more than 70,000 people last year and is aware of the important role we play for
many Broward county residents during times of crisis.
Contact
the CFP, @ 954-792-2EAT, or through an on line donation at www.feedingbroward.org
if you would like to make an emergency cash donation to the hurricane emergency
fund. Each $60 gift provides an emergency box with sufficient food for 3 or 4
days for a family of four, The box includes "heater meals" (self contained
meals that include a chemical heater), sources of protein, canned fruit and vegetables.

US
IMAGING LENDS A HELPING HAND
When
Britt Sikes, CEO of US IMAGING and his team came to CFP to volunteer this month,
he quickly assessed that we were in desperate need of an updated photo copier.
After putting in a full day's work in the pantry and warehouse, US Imaging staff
came back the following week to set us up with a new copier. This wonderful new
relationship will continue as Britt has already set two more dates to volunteer
with his team. Thank you US Imaging!!
